A repeated fractal pattern like the flaming feathers of the mythical firebird. Swirls of vivid orange, purple, and gold against a muted lavender and pale orange and pink backdrop.

Phoenix Lament

This picture developed like many of my abstracts, with a fractal design that I played with and manipulated until it didn't bear much resemblence to the original. It this case it was an orange and lavendar pattern that looked rather like a phoenix's wing.

Fractals combined to create green light patterns on the sea floor, overlaid with ornate gold spirals and a single pearl. The fractals were created in Apophysis and Xaos.

Beneath the Emerald Sea

For this piece I took the same ZaoS fractal I had embossed for Rubies & Gold and laid it over a green Apophysis fractal design. The result was a calmer image that reminded me of the light patterns - caustics - under rippling water. The pearl seemed an appropriate addition.

Hazy Day

This was probably my last picture created with Terragen 3D landscape generation software, before I moved on to using Vue instead. That old version of Terragen was pretty limited as 3D software goes, but it was a good start to digital landscapes, and I think this is a good picture to end on. I was experimenting with sunsets. The original render was much more red and quite hazy, but if I adjusted the colors too much I lost the green of the grass. Hopefully this hits a happy medium!

A drawing of a man standing silhouetted on a broken bridge, looking across the gulf where a lone willow tree stands. In the sky behind him are the moon and stars in a dark blue sky, fading to red on the far side for the beginning of the sunrise. An illustration of the emotions of hope, despair, and loneliness as he reaches the end of the road and finds the way impassable.

Broken Bridge

How did the bridge break? Is he responsible? Can it be repaired - or is there another way over? Does he even really want to get to the other side? Is the sun rising or setting on the other side? This piece lends itself to many interpretations - and raises many questions.

A sparkling fractal design with ornate spirals of dark and vivid red, overlaid with gold filigree like metallic seashells and studded with glittering rubies.

Rubies & Gold

This ornate spiral pattern came from the XaoS fractal zooming program, and I added the gold overlay and rubies. How any gems do you think there are?
