A pale but colorful fractal design like star clouds in outer space or multi-colored marble with shades of pink, mauve, peach, and blue. The background is a mottled texture like a distant nebula, and the piece is accented by a gold-framed starburst medallion as if inlaid with gold filigree. Completing the picture are smooth opal-like jewels and faceted gemstones inset in a golden floret.

Marbled Galaxies

I fed an Apophysis render into Paint Shop Pro, and this is what came out …. I thought the original render looked like some interstellar cloud, but the result looked more like marble. So I combined the two for the title.

A 3D Christmas scene created in Vue, with candles set on red in front of pine garland accented with red and gold ornaments. In the snowy background are blue-green fir trees against a swirling fractal sky sprinkled with stars. A single sparkling star dominates the night sky. In front of the holiday decorations is a glowing gold Merry Christmas greeting.

Brighter Visions Beam Afar

A simple Christmas desktop made in Vue. I like to reuse my abstract designs as textures, so the sky texture comes from Chaos Tie-Dyed, and the red and gold balls from Rubies & Gold.

A 3D macro shot of a crystal chandelier. Myriads of strands of sparkling glass beads catch the light to create a lovely bokeh in the background. The blurred glass drops are reflected clearly in the sharply focused crystal balls in the foreground. The gold branches of the candelabra and soft pink atmosphere and lights give a sunset glow to the piece.

I found this virtual chandelier model and decided to render a close-up of it in Vue. I made a couple versions, this one with cool evening lighting, and a warmer, more colorful version I called Sunset in Crystal.

A 3D fantasy scene created in Vue: on a lonely island in the midst of the peaceful sea stands a lamppost with four pale pink glowing lamps. A lone tree with purple-grey leaves, an abandoned little boat, and a passing dolphin are the only other signs of life in this eerie ocean. Not more than one person in five hundred years finds this tiny island. It doesn't stay in one place very long. But anyone who is drawn to these mysterious lanterns, and comes to get a closer look, vanishes into another world, and never comes back. The question is, do they want to?
