Blue Ridge Rhododendrons

It's rhododendron season in the Blue Ridge Mountains!

It's been a while since I added any photographs. I'm not that good of a photographer, and I've focused mostly on CGI work lately. But I just took a drive up along the Blue Ridge Parkway in North Carolina, and I got a number of photos, especially of the rhododendron in bloom. At this point I plan to offer only one of them for wallpapers and prints, but here are a selection of them for your viewing pleasure. These are available as-is for screen wallpaper (i.e. I'm not going to resize them for all the screen sizes, but you're welcome to resize them for your personal use).

A winding path leads over the mountains to a solitary river valley. It crosses the rocky stream over a line of stepping stones and ends at a lonely house nestled under the trees at the foot of the hills. The mountain meadow is filled with the green grass and patches of blue and pink flowers. The overshadowing peaks are still covered with snow on this spring morning.

Cwm Solitude

I like the word “cwm”, the way it's spelled and the way it sounds as well as the meaning. I would love to have a solitary retreat in a cwm like this. But this is my digital artwork, not a real place.

Lie on your back in the grass and flowers under a cherry tree in full bloom on a sunny spring day and watch the pink petals float down to you.

April Showers

When I was growing up in Japan the cherry blossoms would bloom just in time for my birthday in early April. It was a windy time of year, and there would often be showers of petals falling.

This is what you would see if you lay down on the ground under the cherry tree in my Cherry Tree Concerto scene.

A pale winter sun sets behind towering larch trees like dark sentinels. Their gnarled branches, bare except for a dusting of snow, and the pastel golds, pinks, and blues of the sunset sky are seen as through a dreamy haze. In the foreground snowflakes are softly falling.
