A forest walk through the seasons, from winter snow, to spring bluebells and azaleas, to summer green and clover, to the bright yellows and oranges of autumn leaves, and back to snow. A bright red autumn tree marks the end of the perspective back to winter again.
A winter night, looking over a gate flanked by two trees down into a snow-covered glen between rocky hills, filled with little farms and hedgerows and stone walls. A warm glow shines from many windows, Christmas lights sparkle on trees and fences, and a Christmas star beams from the roof of a manor house, all under the rays of a full moon.
A short-focus render of a dark, rainy day in a northern mountain glen. In the background are grey-brown hills and a willow tree with its yellow fall leaves on an island in a silvery lake. In the foreground are raindrops frozen in midair, with one in the middle bringing the golden willow and its reflection into sharper focus.

Rain in the Glen

Just a quiet rainy autumn day - in closeup.

A great hall cut in the side of the hill, and along each wall an aisle of trees. At the far end a shallow bay with an arched roof, and a little stream tinkling down the wall like a fine curtain in front of it. In the bay a table and two vessels, which glow with a golden and a green light. The blending of the two lights is like the summer sun shining through young trees. The trees also glow, every leaf edged with light, green and gold and red.

Wellinghall

“Beyond them was a wide level space, as though the floor of a great hall had been cut in the side of the hill…, and along each wall stood an aisle of trees.… At the far end the rock-wall was sheer, but at the bottom it had been hollowed back into a shallow bay with an arched roof: the only roof of the wall, save the branches of the trees…. A little stream … fell tinkling down the sheer face of the wall, pouring in silver drops, like a fine curtain in front of the arched bay.

“Treebeard lifted two great vessels and stood them on the table. They seemed to be filled with water, but he held his hands over them, and immediately they began to glow, one with a golden and the other with a rich green light;… Looking back, the hobbit saw that the trees in the court had also begun to glow … until every leaf was edged with light: some green, some gold, some red as copper.”
The Lord of the Rings, Book III, Chapter 4: Treebeard

A narrow lane runs through a quiet country glen full of hayfields and hedgerows, bordered by stone walls and fall-flowering grasses. Two cats play in the lane and on the wall in the shadow of the colorful trees.

Autumn in the Glen

Going down the lane seen in Glen of the Twins on a sunny autumn day. Can you see the kitties?
